Police Investigating Burglaries Of Occupied Residences

The Hoover Police Department is investigating five burglaries of occupied residences that occurred last week in the Inverness area.

HOOVER, AL - Hoover Police are investigating five burglaries of occupied residences that occurred last week in the Inverness area.

The first three happened early Wednesday morning in the Barkley Square neighborhood. In each of these cases, the suspect entered the houses with no force and rummaged through the victims’ belongings without being detected. The suspect also entered three vehicles that were either parked inside the garage or on the street in front of the residences. In each case, the suspect removed items from the victims’ purses before leaving the are.

Two additional homes were burglarized in the Inverness Green neighborhood early Saturday morning. In both of these cases, the suspect entered through an unsecured door. Both victims in these cases encountered the suspect while he was still inside their residence. He immediately fled on foot once the victims discovered him. The suspect also entered one of the victim’s vehicles prior to him entering their home. They described him as a white male that’s approximately 6 feet tall and wearing dark clothing.

Hoover Police would like to remind everyone of the following crime prevention tips:

  • Don’t leave items in plain view in your vehicle
  • Be sure to lock your vehicle every time you park it
  • Make sure the doors and windows to your home are locked and secure
  • Consider installing motion activated floodlights on the exterior of your home
