Prescription Drug Take Back Day In Hoover: What To Know
Oct. 24 is Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Here is where to drop off unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
HOOVER, AL — Saturday October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Hoover Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The event gives citizens the chance to rid their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs (over the counter pills will be accepted also).
Drop off is at Hoover City Hall, 100 Municipal Lane.

These items generally are not accepted at the drop box:
- Needles or other sharps
- Asthma inhalers
- Mercury thermometers
- Iodine-containing medications
- Illicit drugs or substances (including marijuana which is still a schedule 1 drug under federal law), and any prescription medications obtained illegally.
Last year, participants nationwide collected 882,919 pounds of unused medication at more than 6,100 collection sites throughout the country.
