HOOVER, AL — Acts of kindness do not always get the attention they deserve these days, but in Hoover, one young resident was rewarded for his good deed. Foster Dudley, a fourth grade student at Prince of Peace Catholic School, was given a key to the city after he returned a envelope containing $900 cash to its owner.

Foster was celebrated in a ceremony Jan. 21 for his honesty in returning the envelope that he found at the Target Hoover West to the store manager who, with the help of the Hoover Police Department, located the owner from a deposit slip in the envelope.

Prince of Peace Principal Connie Angstadt and Foster's fourth grade teacher Kati Birdsong Horton were present at the ceremony along with Foster's parents Paul and Parisa Dudley and grandparents Thomas and Terry Dudley.

This is only the second time Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato has given a key to the city.

Two days after Foster found the money, he and his family were back at Target to meet Verdina Bell, the woman who had lost the envelope that contained the cash. For his good deed, Foster also received a reward of a $100 Target gift card.
