HOOVER, Al - Film crews gathered at Golen Rule Bar-B-Q in Hoover Friday to film a scene in a new movie starring John Travolta and Shania Twain. The film, "Trading Paint," is an auto racing movie that takes place in the south, and also features Michael Madsen and Tony Sebastian.

The restaurant was closed Friday afternoon for the shooting, but word of the movie scene's filming attracted a crowd of more than 100 fans that gathered at the restaurant to watch. Golden Rule owner Nick Manakides and many of his cooks and servers were on hand to prepare food for the scene and to appear as extras in the movie.

Manakides told the Hoover Sun he was not sure why the film crew picked his restauant, bit that members of the crew had been eating there for weeks prior to asking him permission to film. He said he had heard that another restaurant in Hueytown was considered, but his was smaller and more intimate than the restaurant in Hueytown.
