School Delays Announced For Several Metro Birmingham Systems

In anticipation of possible bad winter weather Friday, several school systems have opted to delay opening Friday morning.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - In anticipation of possible hazardous winter weather, several of the Birmingham metro schools systems are on a two-hour delay Friday morning. The National Weather Service reports cold air moving in from the west and northwest will resulting in rain mixing with and changing to snow beginning late Thursday night and early Friday morning. Temperatures are expected to remain just above freezing while the snow falls, which will prevent significant accumulations, but some light accumulations will be possible primarily on grassy and elevated surfaces.
