Sheriff’s Deputies Investigate Traffic Fatality

One motorist is dead after a traffic accident Tuesday night in western Jefferson County.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — One motorist is dead after a traffic accident in western Jefferson County Tuesday night. The victim has not been identified.

At 8:04 p.m. Tuesday, Jefferson County deputies were dispatched to investigate a traffic accident in the 5600 block of 5th Street North in Lipscomb. Deputies found a one car accident where the driver was deceased.

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver may have lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway eventually striking a tree and catching on fire, according to Deputy Chief David Agee. The Coroner’s Office will make a positive identification of the driver.
