Shooting Claims Life Of 23-Year-Old Victim In Hoover

A shooting at The Park apartment complex in Hoover left one victim dead, while police look for a suspect.

HOOVER, AL - A shooting Sunday afternoon at The Park apartment complex in Hoover left a 23-year-old victim dead. Police are looking for a suspect in the shooting, which they say may have been drug-related.

The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. Sunday, as the Hoover Police Department responded to the apartment complex in the 2300 block of Rime Village Drive of Lorna Road, according to a report by Alabama Media Group. Police found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound in front of the 2300 building.

The victim was taken to UAB Hospital by Hoover Fire and Rescue where he was pronounced dead within two hours. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)

A report by Hoover PD's Lt. Keith Czeskleba said evidence at the scene suggested the shooting possibly involved a drug transaction. Witnesses reported seeing shots being fired from a silver or grey SUV, possibly a Jeep. The suspect vehicle struck another vehicle in the parking lot as it was fleeing the scene and it may have damage to the driver's side front bumper.
