Suspected Hoover Tire Thief Arrested

A man who has been caught on camera stealing tires from businesses in the area was arrested by Hoover police.

HOOVER, AL - A man wanted by the Hoover Police Department for stealing tires from multiple businesses in the area has been arrested. The thefts occurred between November 29 and January 10. The suspect has been identified as Johnnie Lee Burnett Jr.

Police say Burnett committed thefts at Pep Boys Hwy 280, Havoline Xpress on Hwy 119 and Express Oil Change Hwy 31. The total value of the stolen tires is over $3,500. Reports say he would pull up next to the buildings then loaded up tires that are outside on display. There are neighboring agencies that are working cases where this man is the suspect in similar thefts.

Burnett was arrested and booked into the Shelby County Jail yesterday.
