Tarrant Woman Charged With Theft From A Vehicle In Hoover

A woman has been charged with breaking and entering a car in Hoover and use of a credit card stolen from that vehicle.

HOOVER, AL - A Tarrant woman has been arrested by Hoover police and charged with breaking and entering and fraudulent use of a credit card, after the woman was seen on camera breaking into a vehicle in a Hoover shopping center parking lot and later using a credit card stolen from that vehicle at a Wal-Mart in Highway 280. Shelby Ryan Mertz, 25, was arrested over the weekend for the Sept. 13 incident. She is currently in the Shelby County Jail with bond set at $10,000.

Mertz allegedly stole a purse from a car parked at 250 Doug Baker Boulevard. According to police reports, she then bought $114 worth of goods from Walmart on U.S. 280 with a credit card stolen from that vehicle.
