Threat At Pelham School Not Credible: Police

A threat made by a student at a Pelham school prompted swift police action, but was found to lack credibility.

PELHAM, AL — With a new school year comes, unfortunately in this era, with a new rash of incidents involving police presence at schools. Monday, the Pelham Police Department responded to a threat made at a Pelham school.

The Pelham Police Department was notified Monday evening of a threat of violence at a Pelham City School, according to a PPD statement. Investigators immediately began working numerous leads, and within hours, were able to determine the threat was not credible.

Investigators identified the person responsible for the post and met with the child's parents. "Officers are in touch with the juvenile court system to determine what action will be taken moving forward.," the police said in a statement.

The statement added, "It is important that you know the safety of all of our schools, students, faculty and staff is of utmost importance to the Pelham Police Department. Parents, you will see increased patrols at all of our schools in the days to come so you can have the peace of mind knowing we are there to protect your children."
