Three Arrested After Committing Residential Burglaries

HOOVER, AL - The Hoover Police Department helped its Vestavia Hills counterpart in capturing three men accused of residential burglaries. Marco Shakur Anderson, 24, of Hoover; Abraham Christian Lewis Jr., 23, of Birmingham; and Marquel Rashad Honeycutt, 22, of Hueytown were charged with third degree burglary and second degree attempted burglary.

The Hoover PD responded Wednesday to a possible burglary in progress in the 400 block of Golf Drive. According to a report from the Hoover PD, a resident called 911 after encountering a male suspect, wearing a hooded sweatshirt looking through the glass of his back door. He saw the suspect get into a black Chevrolet SUV that was sitting in his driveway and was able to provide the tag number to dispatch. A lookout bulletin was broadcast to other officers with the vehicle and suspect descriptions.

At 11:40 a,m., a Hoover Police sergeant in an unmarked vehicle saw the SUV leaving a driveway on Twin Branch Drive in Vestavia Hills and conducted a traffic stop. Further investigation revealed that the suspects had just burglarized that residence. Hoover Police officers took them into custody and notified Vestavia Hills Police Department of the burglary in their jurisdiction.

"After the suspects were in custody, a resident in the 3200 block of Verdure Drive called to report his residence had been burglarized" said the Hoover PD in its report. "The victim stated he received an alert on his phone from his home surveillance system at 10:45 a.m. that showed video of two male suspects inside of his home. He provided that video to investigators who identified the males as two of the three suspects that were already in custody."

"Much thanks to the Hoover Police Department for the integral part they played in the capture and charging of these subjects," the Vestavia Hills PD said on social media.

All three suspects are facing additional charges in the Vestavia Hills case. Anderson and Lewis are believed to have committed several burglaries in Hoover in January of this year and may be charged with those crimes in the near future. The suspects will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail later today.
