Felony Lane Gang Suspected In Recent Car Break-Ins Along 280

A traveling gang known as the Felony Lane Gang is suspected to be responsible for a surge of car break-ins along 280.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL — A recent increase in car break-ins along the Highway 280 corridor is suspected to be the work of a traveling crime gang known as the Felony Lane Gang. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office confirmed that suspicion this week.

The SCSO said the gang typically comes into town for a couple days at a time, targeting busy areas like shopping centers or gyms. An ABC 33/40 report said the SCSO believes the group is looking in cars for money, a purse or anything of value.

Captain Kevin Turner told ABC 33/40 that the group dresses to blend in, and travels in groups.

"They’ll have multiple people in the parking lot," Turner said. "They don’t care if your vehicle is unlocked or not. They’ll break a vehicle to get to your purse or your bag. They’re targeting money, bank accounts, financial accounts and that’s what they’re in the business for."

Turner added that the gang targets affluent areas, such as Greystone and Brook Highland along the 280 corridor - which is where the rise in car break-ins has occurred.
