Two Arrested In Monday Kidnapping

Two men have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a couple at the Econo Lodge on Montgomery Highway.

HOOVER, AL - Two men have been arrested after police say they kidnapped a couple at the Econo Lodge hotel on Montgomery Highway Monday morning, and then tried to extort money from a friend of the couple.

The Hoover Police Department received a call from the Birmingham Police Department early Monday morning stating they were out with a male and a female that had been kidnapped. The victims told officers that they were forced into a vehicle at gunpoint by two male suspects. After forcing them to withdraw money at several ATM locations, one of the suspects used a victim’s cellphone to place a call to a friend of that victim.

He demanded that person meet them on Green Springs Highway with $600, or he would kill both victims. The friend contacted Birmingham Police who set up a sting operation to arrest the suspects and rescue the victims. Officers located the victims unharmed and took both suspects into custody after a brief car chase and foot pursuit. They were turned over to Hoover officers and brought to the Hoover City Jail. Detectives obtained the warrants for the offenses that occurred in Hoover and charged 19-year-old Eric Wayne Hinson, Jr. and 24-year-old Stanley Keith Densmore, Jr. of robbery and kidnapping.
