Work Release Inmate Escapes In Shelby County

Authorities are searching for a work release inmate who escaped from a job site in Alabaster on Wednesday.

ALABASTER, AL — An inmate at the Childersburg Work Release Center escaped from a job site in Alabaster Wednesday. Wesley Louis Staten, 26 is serving an eight-year sentence for a possession of marijuana conviction out of Marshall County, and left the job site at about 11:30 a.m.

An Alabama Media Group report said Staten was last known to be wearing a black and white collared shirt, blue jeans and black and white tennis shoes.

Staten, a black male, is 6-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police or the Alabama Department of Corrections at 1-800-831-8825.
