BBB warns of fake Polaris ATV sales scam tied to Tanner address (waff.com) — Huntsville's Better Business Bureau is warning residents after a buyer lost more than $4,000 to a fake Polaris ATV sales operation using a Tanner warehouse address and local phone number. Officials say scammers used a realistic website and even a doctored Alabama driver's license, and urge people to get a second opinion before wiring money for big purchases.
2. Airmen may get kits to build their own drones and drone-killing weapons in the field (sandboxx.us) — Huntsville appears as the site of a new Best Warfighter competition where soldiers were encouraged to bring drones they built or 3D-printed themselves, reflecting a broader military shift toward field-built unmanned systems. The Air Force is now exploring kits that would let airmen assemble drones and counter-drone weapons in remote locations, reducing reliance on traditional supply chains. This trend could bring more cutting-edge drone experimentation and training events to North Alabama.
3. Dillard University is One of 12 HBCU's to Receive $1 Million Gift from Dimon Foundation (theneworleanstribune.com) — Huntsville's Oakwood University is among 12 HBCUs each receiving a $1 million endowment gift from the Dimon Foundation through UNCF, aimed at strengthening long-term finances and career pathways in education and healthcare. The permanent funds are designed to bolster campus stability, expand opportunities for students, and support future investments in academics, research, and infrastructure.
4. North Alabama beats Samford ahead of trip to play Arkansas football (nwaonline.com) — A neutral-site college football game in Huntsville gave North Alabama its first win since 2025, as the Lions beat Samford 22-10 behind a record 95-yard touchdown pass. The strong defensive performance sets them up with momentum for next weekend's trip to face Arkansas.
