Here are the top stories today in Mobile:
- Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in downtown Mobile celebrates its 150th Anniversary. Dr. Alvin A. Cleveland, Sr. says that the church came out of the St. Louis Street Baptist Church and has significant ties to the history of the state, including that their first pastor was one of the first trustees of Selma University. Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church was also founded right after the abolition of slavery in 1861. (WKRG News 5)
- Starting Monday, Nov. 15, Walter Tanner Road at State Route-158 in Wilmer will be closing permanently. This closure will help the Alabama Department of Transportation with its proposed improvements to SR-158, which are slated to begin in early 2022. Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes, and there are signs indicating those alternate routes at Walter Tanner Road. (FOX10 News)
- The Annual Christmas Nights of Lights kicked off this past Friday at Hank Aaron Stadium and will run through Jan. 7. (FOX10 News)
