Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:

  1. The Mobile County Animal Shelter has reduced its adoption fees. Pets can now be adopted for only $40 - until sponsorships remain. Each adoption comes with a spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and a microchip. The shelter is overwhelmed with animals during the summer months and this promotion will hopefully alleviate the capacity. (WKRG News 5)
  2. The City of Mobile will be hosting 4th of July Celebrations at both Mardi Gras Park and Cooper Riverside Park. The Kids Zone will be at Mardi Gras Park. There will be a DJ and live bands performing at Cooper Riverside Park. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. (Fox 10 News)
  3. The City of Mobile will be opening a third recycling drop-off center. The expansion is possible through a $340,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. The city will reportedly be examining additional recycling services for the future. (NBC 15 WPMI)
