Father Watches 21-Year-Old Son Die After Cement Truck Crosses Into Lane on Kushla Mcleod Road in North Mobile County Crash (parktelegraph.com) — A 21-year-old man from the Mobile area died in a fiery crash on Kushla McLeod Road in north Mobile County after a cement truck reportedly crossed into his lane. His father, driving ahead of him, swerved off the road and then walked back to find his son's car burning. State troopers are investigating how the truck ended up in the wrong place.
2. Spanish Oak Inn tenants explore lawsuit as tax lien raises questions (mynbc15.com) — Residents of the Spanish Oak Inn in Mobile County are weighing a potential lawsuit over days without water, power problems, and what they describe as wrongful evictions, while also facing a tax lien on the property. A county attorney stresses the lien alone won't trigger immediate evictions, but tenants' lawyer says only a lawsuit may protect families who fear being forced from their homes.
3. Mobile County deputies to continue patrolling Prichard amid ongoing negotiations (wkrg.com) — Mobile County sheriff's deputies will keep patrolling nearby Prichard for now, as city officials and county leaders continue negotiating a formal policing contract. The sheriff's office had planned to end patrols Friday evening, but instead will maintain patrol and dispatch services without interruption while Prichard rebuilds its troubled police department. Officials say public safety remains the top priority during this transition.
4. Alabama Second Dispensary Opens To Expand Patient Access (nugmag.com) — Medical cannabis access is set to expand to Mobile, with RJK Holdings planning a dispensary there as part of Alabama's growing network. A second dispensary has just opened in Talladega, and state regulators say more locations will improve affordability and reduce travel for patients across Alabama.
5. FleetForce Launches Next10,000 CDL Recruitment Campaign (fleetequipmentmag.com) — FleetForce's new Next10,000 campaign could open doors for Mobile-area residents interested in commercial driving, thanks to on-site CDL training now hosted at Swift Transportation's Mobile terminal. The company is celebrating 10,000 graduates and promising job interviews for qualified students, while seeking more partners to subsidize training and connect new drivers with steady work nationwide.
