Good morning, neighbors! It's me again, Sammi Caramela, your host of the Mobile Daily.

First, today's weather:

Sunshine. High: 74 Low: 59.

Here are the top stories in Mobile today:

  1. In the last two years, the City of Mobile has seen a 30 percent decrease in arrests, and yet the local crime rate continues to rise. According to Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran, the pandemic played a big role in the number of arrests: Fewer people were on the streets and law enforcement saw a decrease in the number of crimes reported, which led to fewer arrests. While Sheriff Cochran indicated that shooting incidents have increased, many of them have been retaliatory and victims have refused to corporate with law enforcement, leaving the perpetrators out on the streets and out of jails. (NBC 15 WPMI)
  2. On Sunday night, a man was shot at a Mobile Chevron station on the corner of Springhill Avenue and Ann Street and drove himself to the hospital after the incident. Officers at the scene found several shell casings near one of the pumps. No details have been released about the victim's condition or any suspects. (FOX 10)
  3. The most wonderful time of the year has arrived in Mobile County! Don't miss the local holiday festivities happening this month, including Christmas Nights of Lights of Mobile, open now at Hank Aaron Stadium, and the 26th Magic Christmas in Lights at Bellingrath Gardens and Home, which opens Nov. 26. (WKRG News 5)
  4. To help local supply chains and school districts that are struggling with an extreme CDL driver shortage, the Mobile Career Center held a truck driving job fair on Monday to attract more people to this in-demand profession. (NBC 15 WPMI)
  5. Nearly two years after the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Carnival Cruise Lines is restarting operations in Mobile, with the Carnival Sensation sailing out of the Mobile Alabama Cruise Terminal on March 5, 2022. (WVUA 23)
