🌱 Boy Falls From Alabama Pecan Festival Ride + Cruises On Hold

Welcome to the Mobile Daily— your source for updates on everything going on in town.

Hey, people of Mobile! It's me again, Sammi Caramela, your host of the Mobile Daily.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and pleasant. High: 75 Low: 62.

Here are the top stories in Mobile today:

  1. A young boy was injured after he fell off a ride Saturday afternoon at the Alabama Pecan Festival. The child suffered non-life-threatening injuries when he fell out of the Super Shot, a 100-foot-tall freefalling-type carnival ride; the ride was not moving at the time of the accident. Festival director Billy Bolton stated that this had never occurred at the festival, which has been operating in Mobile for 35 years. (AL.com)
  2. The push to bring back Carnival Cruise Lines to the Port of Mobile has hit a roadblock, at least for now. The cruise line is now requiring a vaccine passport, indicating proof of vaccination or a negative test, in order to board their ships. Mayor Sandy Stimpson is now making his case for a vaccine waiver to pass in the legislature. (utv44.com)
  3. After two sanitary sewer overflows on Monday, the Mobile County Health Department has determined that the overflows were caused by grease blockages. (FOX10 News)
  4. A former student at Spring Hill College accused of raping another student on campus is once again asking for permission to leave the state. (WKRG News 5)
  5. Like many school bus routes across the country, the Mobile County Public School District is facing bus driver shortages. (FOX10 News)
