- The City of Mobile announced a five-month closure of Craft Highway between Velma and Osage Streets as crews work to replace a bridge. The work is expected to continue until May 2022, and traffic will be detoured to Prichard Avenue and Wilson Avenue. Once reopened, the new bridge will include an adjacent pedestrian bridge. (FOX10 News)
- Mobile County municipal court has added three virtual courtrooms to conduct more hearings and clear through the court's backlog of cases faster. The virtual aspects are secure and user-friendly, with enhanced audio and video capabilities, and attorneys only need to scan a QR code on one of the screens to start a meeting. Mayor Sandy Stimpson said he feels it's "a huge accomplishment for the city." (WKRG News 5)
- After a three-month investigation, the Mobile Police Department's Narcotics division executed multiple arrest and search warrants in the Maysville community Thursday afternoon. The investigation, dubbed "Operation Gift Wrap," focused on local cocaine and marijuana distribution and resulted in at least three arrests. (NBC 15 WPMI)
- Mobile's first COVID-19 vaccine recipient reflected on her experience in the year since vaccination. Kimberly Tucker, a head nurse at University Hospital, noted that everyone was a little apprehensive at the time, but "you just have to take a leap some time and trust the health care professionals ... and I'm glad I did."
