🌱 Burger King Shooter Arrested + MCHD Closed For Mardi Gras

Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:

  1. A suspect has been arrested in relation to a shooting that occurred at a Mobile Burger King on Wednesday night. Derrick Drinkard was arrested for a shooting that happened at a Burger King at Government Boulevard and charged with second-degree assault, discharging a gun into an occupied building, and carrying a pistol without a permit. Drinkard initially left the scene before calling the authorities. (WKRG News 5)
  2. The Mobile County Health Department has released its schedule for the upcoming Mardi Gras festivities. Today, Feb. 26, Family Health's Saturday Clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to noon and no COVID-19 vaccinations will be available. On Monday, Feb. 28, and Tuesday, Mar. 1, the MCHD and Family Health along with the primary care division will be closed. They will reopen on Wednesday the 2nd at their normal hours. (WKRG News 5)
  3. Mobile County has acquired a pier and golf course and has three major projects underway. The County Commission acquired Cedar Point Pier and plans to operate it. They're also looking to update Bayfront Park and Linksman Golf Course for development projects. (WKRG News 5)
