MOBILE, Ala. – The following statement was released by Mobile City Clerk Lisa Carroll Lambert after the death of City Council President Levon Charles Manzie.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our Council President Levon C. Manzie. His accomplishments as a public servant are numerous and he will be greatly missed by all.
The run-off election scheduled for Tuesday, October 5, 2021, for the Mobile City Council Districts 1, 2 and 6 will still be held as planned as required by controlling Alabama law, a ruling of the Supreme Court of Alabama and an opinion issued by the Attorney General of Alabama. Consequently, incumbent Levon C. Manzie’s name will remain on the District 2 ballot.”
