🌱 Concealed Carry Permit Votes + Mobile-Influenced Song

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Mobile.

(Patch Media)

Rise and shine, Mobile! Let's get you started this Wednesday with everything you need to know going on around Mobile today.

First, today's weather:

A passing shower or two. High: 75 Low: 70.

Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:

  1. On Tuesday, Mobile County officials voted unanimously to support their sheriff in recommending that state lawmakers do not support legislation to abolish concealed carry permits in Alabama. The Mobile County Commission's vote was not an official resolution, but clearly states their disapproval of legislation introduced to remove the requirement that gun owners need to purchase a pistol permit to conceal carry their firearms. 2. A Mobile-area woman has been charged for participating in the January 6 insurrection at the United States Capitol. Kari Dawn Kelley has agreed to plead guilty for her role in the crime. Prosecutors allege Kelley drove from Mobile to Washington D.C. with three Missouri men and "entered the Capitol through a broken window near the Senate Wing Door." (Lagniappe)
  3. Up-and-coming musical artist Jabel Hendrix — related to Jimi Hendrix — recently recorded his new single "Get Down." Jabel was born in Mobile and lived in Europe for the first years of his life where his parents introduced him to musical influences like Elton John, David Bowie, and Michael Jackson. The release date for his new Mobile-influenced song is January 7, 2022. (WKRG News 5)
