Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:

  1. Multiple people were shot at on nearby Days Inn Hotel motel on Wednesday morning. A woman was shot in the stomach and killed and at least two other people are believed to have been shot. At this time the police have not confirmed if any arrests have been made. (NBC 15 WPMI)
  2. A two-phase public hearing on Amtrak has been sentenced. The hearing concerns Amtrak's application to operate a passenger service between New Orleans and Mobile. The first phase of the hearing will be on Feb. 15 at 8:30 a.m. through Zoom. (WKRG News 5)
  3. Mobile city workers were able to collect about 50,000 pounds of waste at the city's first waste collection event. Environmental Engineering created the event for residents to safely dispose of toxic household materials. These items include automotive fluids, batteries, paint, and others that are dangerous to people and the environment. (WKRG News 5)
