1. Up for a short road trip this weekend, Mobile? The Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival is happening all weekend long, celebrating its 70th year in Fairhope. 2. The City of Mobile announced Thursday Mobile Public services director John Peavy has resigned following a non-criminal investigation. Peavy's resignation was accepted Monday by Mayor Sandy Stimpson. The resignation comes after an investigation from the Office of Professional Responsibility. No further information on the case has been released. (WKRG News 5)
3. The Alabama Port Authority recently released its February 2022 container volumes, showing booming growth for the Port of Mobile. Data shows an increase in refrigerated cargo by 54.2 percent over January 2022 volumes. Intermodal rail transfers also found a 12.4 percent gain over January's volumes handling 2,898 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs). "The Port of Mobile is rising to meet the market's needs as the demand for dynamic, on-time service grows nationwide and shippers leverage optionality to increase competition," said Beth Branch, Chief Commercial Officer.
