Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:
- On Tuesday night, the Mobile Police Department executed a search warrant, turning up what police say is an illegal gambling and drug ring. During the search at Phat Tuesday Sports Bar, officers sized two slot machines and over $5,500. 65-year-old Richard Johnson and 32-year-old Abbie Perry were arrested on several charges, including promoting gambling and possession of a controlled substance. - Could Mobile soon be Alabama's second-largest city? On Tuesday, city officials reported a renewed push for annexation, which would add thousands more homes and residents to the Mobile area. The proposed plan is expected to coincide with the redistricting of the Mobile City Council. Click the link for more information on the prospective annexation. (AL.com)
- If you saw an unhealthy Air Quality Index in Mobile on Tuesday, a faulty sensor is to blame, according to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. Tuesday's AQI showed an "unhealthy" value of 152; however, the ADEM says a malfunctioning monitor in Chickasaw caused the inaccurate high number to generate. The monitor was scheduled to be checked and repaired yesterday. (Fox 10 News)

- Mobile police say a male shooting victim drove himself to a hospital for treatment after he was shot Tuesday night. The victim's injuries were non-life-threatening, and the investigation is ongoing. (Fox 10 News)
- A Mobile man won $1 million from a scratch-off ticket in Pensacola. The winner, Earnest Dillard, claimed his winnings and was given a "one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000," according to a news release from the Florida Lottery. (WKRG News 5)
- Mobile city pools are desperately looking for lifeguards and may need to shorten hours if more staffing isn't found. City lifeguard starting pay was recently raised to $15.22 an hour. (Fox 10 News)
