Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:

  1. Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a $100 million grant to two Alabama transportation authorities to construct multi-modal transportation assets in Mobile. The competitive grant, authorized under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, will support the efficiency of freight movements by air, rail, highway, and water. (Alabama Political Reporter)
  2. After a two-year cruising hiatus for Port, Carnival Ecstasy will be docking in Mobile this March. Tomorrow, March 5, the ship will be leaving for a five-day Western Caribbean cruise and will be the first ship to depart from Mobile since the pandemic started. Tomorrow will also kick off the cruise line's "Sail-abration," celebrating Carnival's 50th Birthday. (WKRG News 5)
  3. Mobile County Public Schools are no longer requiring masks on their busses. According to Superintendent Chresal Threadgill, this decision came from the CDC rescinding some of its facemask recommendations. (WKRG News 5)
