Here are the top stories today in Mobile:
- On Sunday, officers with the Mobile Police Department along with over thirty horses took part in the Mounted Units training program. This training prepares the horses and officers for anything that may come their way during events, such as Mardi Gras parades. Horses go through sensitivity training and drills through the use of smoke, sirens, and loud noises to prepare for Mardi Gras parades. (WKRG News 5)
- On Saturday night, Mobile-Fire Rescue went to the 1200 block of Glennon Avenue in response to a residential fire. Crews confirmed that a wood-frame residential home was fully engulfed. One occupant was taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation; the cause of the fire is still being investigated. (NBC 15 WPMI)
- The Mobile Police Department has identified the 19-year-old killed in the Cottage Hill Road shooting as Keith Fredericks, who was found shot to death inside a vehicle. The shooting took place on Feb. 15 and two other 19-year-olds were also found shot at the scene, though their injuries were said to be non-life-threatening at the time. No motive has been released for this crime. (FOX10 News)
