Here are the top stories today in Mobile:

  1. MTC Logistics opened their new refrigerated cargo facility in Mobile on Wednesday. This is one of the largest distribution centers in the Southeast region. They are continuing to hire in the area and encourage interested parties to apply. (WEAR)
  2. The city of Mobile Police Department responded to shots fired in the area of Michigan Avenue Tuesday. Police found a vehicle struck a church on the 1200 block of Rev. A.T. Days Street and found a man dead of a gunshot wound. Witnesses are encouraged to submit tips. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Agencies, nonprofit organizations, private entities, and local governments are reminded that they have until Oct. 25, the priority consideration date, to submit proposals for funding from Mobile County's $80.14 million American Rescue Plan Act Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds allocation.   4. The United States Department of Defense awarded $6 million to the Mobile County Public School system to expand the JROTC STEM Leadership Academy. (WKRG News 5)
  5. As part of FEMA's Port Security Grant Program, the Mobile Fire-Rescue received a grant for a new fireboat. (WKRG News 5)
