🌱 Junior League Jubilee + Mobile Faith Leaders Take A Stand

Hey, Mobile! It's Saturday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on in town today.

Here are the top stories today in Mobile:

  1. Get a jump start on your holiday shopping with the Junior League of Mobile's Christmas Jubilee! The 37th annual holiday market started yesterday and will run through Sunday at the Mobile Convention Center. The event features dozens of merchants from the Gulf Coast and across the country, and funds will benefit the Junior League. (FOX10 News)
  2. A group of faith-based leaders and community activists have had enough of the violence and homicide plaguing Mobile. During a gathering at a church on Thursday, they sent a resounding message: "We want to live." The gathering was organized by Faith in Alabama Mobile Hub and was a mix of inspiration and platform-setting. The group aims to partner with other organizations to come up with programs aimed at reaching out to the shooters in troubled neighborhoods, as well as deploying former perpetrators to areas where shootings occur to build relationships and help establish trust with residents.   3. A former Mobile daycare worker charged with leaving a child in a hot van for several hours, then dumping his body, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Wednesday. (FOX10 News)
  4. Carnival Cruise Line announced Thursday it intends to resume service for its entire U.S. fleet, including Mobile's Carnival Sensation, "by the end of March" 2022. (utv44.com)
  5. Paul Prine was officially sworn in as the new chief of the Mobile Police Department on Friday. (WKRG News 5)
