Man Arrested for Assaulting Nurse, Another Re-Arrested For Murder

Here are the top stories today in Mobile:

  1. On Friday, Oct. 1, at the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, a Mobile man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a nurse attempting to draw his blood. Officers say that when the victim attempted to draw the suspect's blood, he kicked the victim in the chest. The suspect was identified as 64-year-old Gerry Calkins. (NBC 15 WPMI)
  2. Mobile police confirmed that a suspect had been re-arrested and was charged with capital murder. The suspect was identified as Leo Alexander, age 37. Alexander had originally been arrested in October of last year for the murder of Machavellia Bagsby. (FOX10 News)
  3. The Saenger Theatre will be holding a two-night Halloween movie series starting Oct. 29 and ending Oct. 30. (WKRG News 5)
  4. The 2021 BluePass shopping card fundraiser will be running from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31 and will support the Junior League of Mobile. (FOX10 News)
  5. On Sunday, people attended the 4th Annual Shrink the Divide performance to help unify the community. (WKRG News 5)
