Here are the top stories today in Mobile:
- Four new faces started work on the Mobile City Council this week. Three new council members and one returning council member will be officially sworn-in at Government Plaz along with three returning incumbents. This also marks the highest turnover rate in years for the Council. (WKRG News 5)
- Six people were shot in five separate incidents this weekend, according to the Mobile Police Department. The shootings took place at the Barrington Park Apartments, American Best Value Inn, Bank Nightlife Club, as well as the Dauphin Island Parkway and the area of Michael Donald Avenue and Springhill Avenue. Two of the victims were treated for life-threatening injuries. (AL.com)
- Cecil Jackson has pled guilty to the rape of a mentally disabled woman near Bienville Square in 2017. (NBC 15 WPMI)
- The Mobile Area Water and Sewer System reported two sewer overflows last week; residents are advised to take precautions when using Halls Mill Creek and Three Mile Creek for recreational purposes. (WKRG News 5)
- One-year-old lab/hound mix Gretchen, a current resident of the Mobile County Animal Shelter, is ready for her forever home. (FOX10 News)
