- A suspect wanted for capital murder with a weapon was arrested in Mobile on Sunday afternoon. Police say 45-year-old Alton Portlock was found hiding under a house on Vine Street and taken into custody without incident. He faces charges for attempting to elude, possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. (WKRG News 5)
- The Mobile City Council has opted not to vote on a proposed Urban Camping Ordinance. The ordinance, which was introduced by Councilman Ben Reynolds, would make it illegal for homeless people to occupy public areas as a means of shelter. Homeless advocacy group members voiced their concerns about the proposed ordinance to the City Council on Tuesday, Mar. 8. (WKRG News 5)
- A former student from Bishop State Community College earned a golden ticket on the season premiere of "American Idol." 24-year-old Tyler Allen brought the judges to tears with his personal story before performing his rendition of "I Believe in You and Me" by Whitney Houston.
