Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:
- The City of Mobile's Architectural Review Board will be meeting on Aug. 3. The meeting will review four different properties and their respective proposed projects. Anyone that would like to submit public comments on the properties can contact the Mobile Historic Development Commission. Click for the full list of properties and projects. (Press Release Desk)
- The Mobile Police Department used a new gunshot detection system to locate a shooter. The ShotSpotter system went live on Tuesday as a part of the department's Operation Echo Stop. The system alerts the department when a gunshot is detected. It allows the department to quickly locate shooters without relying solely on residents to report incidents. (WKRG News 5)
- Mobile County Public Schools has launched a new initiative meant to reduce youth violence. The initiative is a joint program between the district, the University of South Alabama, and the Mobile Police Department. Project SOAR is supported by a $3.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. (News 5 WKRG)
