Good morning, Mobile! Like many of you, the Patch team is taking some time off to enjoy the holidays, so there will not be a newsletter in your inbox tomorrow. Here are the top stories in Mobile today:
- Investigators from the Mobile County Sheriff's Office report that no human remains were found during a search in Wilmer related to a missing person case. Deputies searched a wooded area off Lott Road near Jim Tom Circle. The name of the missing person has not been revealed. (FOX10 News)
- A Mobile family is honoring their son's memory with toy donations. Every year, they collect toys to donate to the children at the USA Children and Women's Hospital, just in time to celebrate Christmas and their late son's December birthday. The family takes donations all year long: both monetary and item donations. They are currently in need of hygiene products for teenagers. (WKRG News 5)
- A Mobile woman pleaded guilty to charges of helping prepare dozens of fraudulent applications for federal pandemic relief funds involving more than $1 million. Corine Campbell was accused of helping with more than 50 bogus applications for money through the government's Paycheck Protection Program. Her sentencing is scheduled for April 25. (NBC 15 WPMI)
- A Mobile man faces multiple charges, including trafficking cocaine and opium. Mobile police arrested Roderick Delane Calhoun on Tuesday afternoon after pulling him over for an expired tag. Officers found a stolen weapon, a large amount of crack cocaine, powdered cocaine, ecstasy, scales, and cash. (FOX10 News)
