Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:
- A Mobile County bridge was recently named in honor of a worker who suffered a fatal accident on the job. Marshall Walton was hit by a car and died while in a highway work zone in 2015. On Tuesday, the bridge over Seabury Creek received its official new name: the Marshall J. Walton Bridge. (Erie News Now)
- Two multi-million dollar businesses will be bringing big business to Mobile. DC Safety, a security company based in New York, is relocating its headquarters to Mobile. Averitt Express will be expanding its facilities in Mobile to keep up with shipping volume. Learn more at the link. (NBC 15)
- As the war in Ukraine enters its seventh week, the Alabama State Port Authority says its operations remain uncertain. While the Port of Mobile continues to receive Russian imports, this could change if sanctions on materials for steel production are implemented. According to Judith Adam, Vice President of Internal & External Affairs for the Port Authority, only time will tell if the sanctions will have a positive or negative impact. (NBC 15)
