Here are the top stories in Mobile today:
- On Friday, an event was held at The Grounds to help those in the Mobile area who are homeless get back on their feet. "Project Homeless Connect" is designed to provide help and resources to people who are homeless with valuable services including healthcare, legal assistance, housing assistance, and much more. Housing First estimates over 3,600 people are without a home in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. (WEAR)
- A man was arrested after police say he shot someone during a fight over a dog.
Aaron Connell is charged with second-degree assault, though he has been released on bond. On Jan. 8, Connell's girlfriend was involved in an argument with a neighbor that turned physical and he tried to break up the fight by firing a shot at the ground but it hit one of the neighbors in the leg. (FOX10 News) - The City of Mobile opened a warming center at the James Seals Community Center as the weather got colder. The Community Center was used as a warming center Friday night through noon on Saturday, Jan. 29. The City of Mobile, the Mobile Police Department, and the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department operated the center in conjunction with the South Alabama Chapter of the American Red Cross.
