Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:

  1. The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department responded to a storage building fire on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred on Dauphin Island Parkway. The department responded to a call about smoke billowing from the storage building. Responding crews used a metal saw to gain access to the storage units that were on fire. They also used an overhead drone to determine the source of the blaze. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident. (WKRG News 5)
  2. A downtown Mobile church's food distribution had increased demand on Saturday. The New Birth Community Church distributed food from Feeding the Gulf Coast at the Ben May Library branch through a drive-thru operation. The event had a long line of cars. More than 300 families received food assistance during the distribution. The church holds a food distribution event every third Saturday at the library's back parking lot. (Fox 10 News)
  3. Mobile County officials are working to finalize the 2022 high school football schedule. The main question is when five Mobile County public school stadiums will be completed. The Mobile County Commissioner reports that none of the stadiums will be ready for the season's first games. (AL.com)
