Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:

  1. On Sunday, two people charged in connection to an alleged murder-for-hire plot out of Satsuma were booked into Mobile Metro Jail. 49-year-old Brent Allen was shot at Bayou Avenue East in December of 2020. Allen later died from his injuries at University Hospital. The two people booked on Sunday were Jason Hill and Jennifer Hudson, while the third suspect-Wayne Allen Beasley has been in Mobile Metro Jail since Jan. 2021. (WDHN)
  2. A small Roman Catholic college on the Alabama coast now has its own beer. Spring Hill College in Mobile said it is joining Braided River Brewing Co. to launch Portier Pale Ale, a low-alcohol craft brew made for the school. It was developed by a 2019 graduate of the college, Hannah Shankman. (AL.com)
  3. Mobile kicked off its first real Mardi Gras celebration since 2020 after two years that were lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mobile's first big parade of the Mardi Gras season was held Friday night, as the Conde Cavaliers rolled through the city. More than 40 parades are planned in the Mobile area before festivities end with Fat Tuesday on Mar. 1. (The Herald Sun)
