2019 JCC Maccabi Games: Team Birmingham Has Strong Showing

Representing the Levite Jewish Community Center, 18 athletes competed in the 2019 JCC Maccabi Games in Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA — The 2019 JCC Maccabi Games concluded this week in Atlanta, as more than 2000 athletes, coaches, and delegation heads wrapped up the week on the field at the Mercedes Benz Stadium. Team Birmingham, representing the Levite Jewish Community Center, made a strong showing in the annual event.

Team Birmingham consisted of 18 athletes, competing in basketball, soccer, volleyball, dance, tennis, track, golf and star reporter (social media).

The team brought home medals in both individual and team competitions. Additionally, a few Birmingham athletes brought home a Midot medal, which is given out when a teen shows true sportsmanship, kindness to others, and respect for The Games.

More than 1,600 participants, ranging from 12-16-years-old, filled out a field of 13 sports. Hosted by the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, the 2019 JCC Maccabi Games included an Olympic-style opening and closing ceremonies and a community service day.
