7th Ranked Spartans Unbeaten Heading Into Second Half Of Season

The Spartans have a heavy schedule ahead to finish out the season - including games against three of the top 5 teams in the state.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - The first half of the 2018 high school football season is now in the books, and Mountain Brook finds itself at the midway point ranked in the top 10 and undefeated. The Spartans had an off weekend last weekend, but play Oak Mountain Thursday night, which begins a tough several weeks that includes games against some of the top ranked teams in the state.

Mountain Brook sophomore signal-caller Strother Gibbs likely needed the off weekend as much as anyone, as he was nearly unable to play in the Spartans win over rival Vestavia Hills. An illness had him unable to practice during the week leading up to the game, and the decision to play Gibbs came down to the wire.

Gibbs said he is well rested and ready for the Oak Mountain game Thursday.
