MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — After hearing from neighborhood residents Monday night regarding traffic on Beech Circle in Crestline, the Mountain Brook City Council voted to close the street to thru traffic.

The plan is to place bollards along the end of the Beech Circle section in Mountain Brook. In addition, traffic signs warning motorists of the closure of the street will be installed on Beech Circle.

The road has been closed to traffic entering from Montclair Road for several years, before the construction of Tapestry Park apartments. The current plan would close traffic exiting Beech Circle to Montclair Road as well.

Several residents voiced concerns about the number of people who cut through the street despite the One Way signs from Montclair Road. A study showed that during a seven-day span, more than 100 vehicles entered Beech Circle the wrong way from Montclair.
