Inter-City Recycling Challenge For Mtn. Brook, Hoover, Vestavia

Mountain Brook, Hoover, Vestavia Hills and Homewood are participating in an inter-city recycling challenge through April.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A handful of local municipalities are engaging in a competition over the next several months. Councilors from Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, and Hoover are beginning an educational awareness campaign that will help increase successful recycling participation, while decreasing contamination.

The Inter-City Recycling Challenge competition began Nov. 1, and lasts six months. The city with the greatest reduction in contamination rates wins.

At the conclusion of the challenge, the participating councilors from the losing cities will each contribute an amount of their choosing to a charity of the winning city’s choosing.
