Man Charged In Killing Of Former Mountain Brook Student

A convicted felon has been charged and captured in the murder of former Mountain Brook basketball star Terrell Guy.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A man accused of shooting and killing former Mountain Brook High School student Terrell Guy has been captured, according to reports. Birmingham police and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 26-year-old Joseph Curtis Moore Friday afternoon and charged him with capital murder.

The incident occurred Dec. 10 at HighPointe Apartments on Valley Avenue after what authorities believe was a gambling dispute. Guy was a high school standout during his senior year, sending the Spartans to the 2015 state championship with a last second three pointer. He was also named MVP of the Class 7A, Area 6 tournament at Mountain Brook High School, as well as to the Class 7A Northeast Regional All-tournament team at Jacksonville State.

According to a report from Alabama Media Group, Moore was captured on Head Road in Fultondale Friday night. Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Cliff LaBarge said the investigation led detectives and the Marshals task force to a home where Moore was believed to be staying. The murder suspect did not respond to commands to exit the residence and was found hiding in a room off of the garage.

Moore has a long record of crimes relating to robbery and theft of property, but this is is first murder charge.
