MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - The Mountain Brook Fire Department responded to a fire at 3241 East Briarcliff Road Thursday afternoon, where a reported explosion in the home caused the house to become engulfed in flames.
Reports say ammunition stored in the home's garage exploded, causing the fire just after noon Thursday. That has not been confirmed, however. The home has been declared a complete loss.
The Mountain Brook police and fire departments are still on the scene and roads are blocked off currently. Reportedly, the owner and the owner's dog got out of the house safely, and none of the neighboring homes sustained major damage.
