Mountain Brook Keeps Top 5 Ranking Ahead Of Bye Week
The Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings were released Wednesday; see where the Spartans are ranked.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — A week off for any football team is usually much-needed, but can sometimes be a momentum-killer. While it is true that Mountain Brook has gained incredible momentum after five games, the Spartans look to tackle a brutal stretch of their schedule after a dramatic and hard-fought win over rival Vestavia Hills last week.
Mountain Brook's 14-7 win over Vestavia Hills Friday dropped the Rebels out of the top 10, but did not advance the team in the most recent rankings.
The Spartans are ranked no. 5 in the Alabama Sports Writers Association 7A poll this week, the same spot they held last week. Wins by all of the top 5 teams prevented Mountain Brook from moving up in the poll.
