Mountain Brook Opens The Terry Oden Police And Fire Training Facility

The City of Mountain Brook opened its new police and fire training facility last week, and dedicated it to the city's former mayor.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - The city of Mountain Brook officially opened its new training facility for its fire and police departments, and used the new facility as a way to honor a long time public servant. The opening of the training facility was also a dedication, as the Terry Oden Police and Fire Training Facility was officially dedicated to former Mountain Brook mayor Terry Oden. Oden, has been retired for almost a year from the mayor's position he held for 20 years.

The facility still has some minor work left to be done, but the fire department has already held a recruitment event for 17 students on Oct. 16. The facility is located at 3611 East Street near Rathmell Park. Police Chief Ted Cook told Village Living that the project for the joint training facility actually began several years ago. Due to the nature of the relationship between the fire and police departments, both he and Mullins thought it was natural to share the building.
