Mountain Brook Police Warn Of Scammer
The Mountain Brook Police Department became aware of a person scamming residents by offering to perform repair work but not doing it.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - The Mountain Brook Police Department has become aware of a potential scam artist in the area. The man, authorities say, walks doot to door and offers to do driveway repair work and asks for the money up front. He begins the work, but does not come back to finish it.
This has been a common issue over the years in surrounding areas. In Crestline, Crestline Park and Crestwood there have been reports of a man who would go door to door and offer to perform yard work, and would ask for the payment in advance but would not finish the work. As well, some robberies were reported last year and the man arrested for them was a man recognized by many nearby residents as a person who would drive around the neighborhood asking people if they needed yard work done.
The MBPD has a solution for when someone offers to perform any kind of services door to door. "Please ensure anyone you hire has a Mountain Brook Business License and ask for references.," said the MBPD in a statement.
