Reagan Riley was the overall winner for the 6A girls finishing with a time of 17:39 (5k race). Clark Stewart finished second overall with a time of 18:13. The Spartans landed five runners in the top 10 and all 10 Spartan runners finished in the top 60. The scoring Spartans (top five runners) averaged a time of 18:26 in the championship race. For the boys, Davis Plowden and Clayton Collins finished within a half-second of each other in sixth and seventh place overall to secure a spot on the All-State team. The runner-up finish for the Spartans was viewed as a significant accomplishment given the fact they fell short at sectionals to Chelsea.

β€œOn paper, our boys went into the race in third and were able to finish second which is fantastic,” McGovern said. Scottsboro won the 6A boys division with 47 points followed by the Spartans’ 79. Chelsea finished in third place with 114 points.
